The two companies will collaborate in the electrification of bus fleets, incorporating recharging infrastructures.
Iberdrola and the bus manufacturer Irizar, through its subsidiary Irizar e-mobility, seal a 2-year alliance to collaborate in technological innovation in order to decarbonize urban mobility, electrifying bus transport and incorporating recharging infrastructure.
The alliance begins with the award to Iberdrola of the renewable supply to Irizar’s factories. In addition, the electricity company will advise the cooperative on its energy efficiency and self-consumption projects.
Afterwards, the two companies will analyze together projects for the electrification of urban bus fleets, demonstration projects, R&D programs and bilateral initiatives for the development of new technologies, according to what both companies explained on Tuesday.
For Iberdrola, this initiative is part of its commitment to sustainable mobility, with an investment of 150 million euros to reinforce the deployment of electric recharging points.
The Irizar Group, through its e-mobility subsidiary, specializes in turnkey electromobility solutions for sustainable public transport, and is seeking collaboration and distribution agreements in Europe.
